Stood up rather early to get ready for a morning run. Wanted to get on my back quickly to return to Phoenix to meet with family and stay with friends.
My morning run got a but out of control though. I’d driven to the beach and wanted to see both Solana Beach as well as Torrey Pines State Reserve. It was a bit longer then expected and I did not have my breakfast yet. I actually planned to do the last part along the sandy beach, but I had to slow down a bit in order to finish. Eventually I did almost 18 Km and that took a bit more then 2 hours.
Because I ran so late I left San Diego after 1200 and only made it to Phoenix after 1800. And went straight on to have diner with a far relative. KC den Dooven’s father KC Sr moved from Bruges to Boston in early 1900’s. He had driven the Tour de France and had worked as a chef for the Belgium King. Rumour is he actually got fired for driving in the Kings car. He would have liked Grand Theft Auto ;). In the States he published multiple cook books. KC Jr had been a engineer but got so passionate about photography and scenery he started his on publishing firm. You can find all his great books on his site. We discussed more on our family background over diner and KC got great news!
